| Prof Vinayshil Gautam interacts with students at SMVDU | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 15: A guest lecture titled ‘Creating Sharing Mindsets for Effectiveness: Some Reflections’ by internationally acclaimed academician Prof. Vinayshil Gautam presently Professor Emeritus at Department of Management, IIT Delhi, ex director IIM Khozikode was organised at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
Lecture was attended by the students and the faculty. Vice- Chancellor of SMVDU Prof. R.N.K. Bamezai welcomed the guest and said that students are blessed with the presence of the eminent speaker who has vital role in designing management education in India. Prof. Vinayshil Gautam delivered lecture on ‘Creating Sharing Mindsets for Effectiveness: Some Reflections’ and emphasized on development of sharing mindsets.
He rightly said, ‘whether we like it or not, we need each other’. Therefore, people need to learn to deal with each other constructively and must learn to coexist since that would have the constructive effect in managerial effectiveness. He discussed importance of healthy mind, body and views to work successfully and emphasized that one can develop only when the mindsets are changed to overcome the inequalities.
Prof. Gautam also answered queries of the students to satisfy curiosity of the audience. The question asked by the students regarding the effective group or team work was explained by Prof. Gautam as the suitability to understand on the basis of Freudian theory or Marxist theory of exchange. He also said that management education is a about the imbuement of the practice of management.
He said as per the cultural DNA of this subcontinent the managerial practice that can give strength to the organisation is by collaborating. Lecture in College of Management, delivered by the guest was motivating and such lectures are helpful to guide the future managers to ponder upon the basic issues for effective enhancement of their managing skills at both personal and professional level.
