Modernization work of Channi Himmat internal links begins | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 15: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla today said that government is making all out efforts to provide better infrastructural facilities to the students besides quality education in every corner of state by opening and upgrading of scores of educational institutions. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation stone of Government Girls Middle School building at Channi Himmat, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 68 lakh. Chief Education Officer Natha Ram Dingra besides other senior officers of R&B, PHE and school education were present on the occasion. Bhalla said the double-storey school building would be completed within 6 month in the slab area of 3940 sq ft in providing 12-room accommodation to the students. Minister said government is endeavoring a lot to eradicate illiteracy from across the state. He said that school education ministry has played a pivotal role in taking education to every part of the state by introducing several educational policies. He said that this contribution had brought revolution in education sector for achieving100 percent literacy. Bhalla asked parents to send their wards in schools, colleges and universities so that they become a good citizen of the country. He asked teaching fraternity make sincere efforts for providing quality education to students. He stressed upon the teaching fraternity to inculcate moral values in students besides ensuing quality academic education. Minister said that central government headed by Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh is providing liberal funding to the state under education sector for further improving the education standards. He said that central government has introduced RAMSA scheme for upgrading infrastructural facilities in High and Higher secondary schools in the State by providing 69 crore funds. He said 69 schools would be upgraded under RAMSA across the state adding that Rs. 58 lakh would be spent on construction of additional rooms and 15 lakh for science laboratories in each newly upgraded high and higher secondary school. He said that government has earmarked Rs. 25000 each for renovation of high school infrastructure and Rs. 50000 for Higher Secondary School infrastructure under RAMSA. For facilitating the teachers and students, Bhalla said that government has approved Rs. 14 crore for construction of 50-room teacher Bhawan and 500-seating capacity auditorium in Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar adding the prestigious projects would be completed by April 2012. Minister said that to ease rush in city schools, government has opened and upgraded 12 new secondary schools in Gandhi Nagar constituency. He highlighted role of teachers and parents in the life of children. He said that a child is nourished by parents, while teacher shapes his personality and gives his life a direction. Later, Minister kick started macadamisation from Atman School to Jodha Mal School in Channi Himmat, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 lakh.
