| hairman makes obituary references in LC | | | Jammu, January 08
Chairman Legislative Council Mr. Abdul Rashid Dar today made obituary references in the Upper House over the execution of Former President of Iraq Mr. Saddam Hussain and on the sad demise of former legislators Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Dar, Mr. Saif-ud-Din Dar and Thakur Raunak Singh.
The Chairman said “this House expresses deep sorrow and grief over the demise of departed souls and prays for their eternal peace”.
Minister for Roads and Buildings Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak also paid rich tributes to the departed legislators and said that they were great social and political workers who spent their whole life for the welfare of people.
The Members who spoke on the obituary references included Mr. B. A. Naaz, Mr. Ashok Sharma, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Mr. Lal Mohammad Sabir, Mr. Abdul Rehman Tukroo, Mr. Mohammad Rashid, Mrs. Farida Mir, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, Mr. Nazir Ahmed Mir, Mr. Bilal Ahmed Lodhi and Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil.
The House observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The Chairman before adjourning the House nominated a panel of Vice Chairmen comprising Mr. P. Namgyal, Mrs. Sakina Ittoo and Mr. M. S. Panditpuri.
