Work on Rs. 3.50 cr Peerkhoh shrine project apace
Jora inspects pace of progress, calls for timely completion

Jammu, Nov 15 (KNS): Work on Rs. 3. 50 crore Peerkhoh shrine development project is in full swing with an expenditure of Rs. 2. 20 crore registered so far.

The project envisages creation of facilities for visiting pilgrims including construction of Tourist Reception Center (TRC), Amphitheater, bathing ghats, Shelter sheds and View decks, besides beatification of the surroundings of the shrine.

Tourism and Culture Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora who visited the Shrine today inspected the pace of progress on the project and checked the quality of completed works. He called upon the executing agency to ensure timely completion of the project by using quality material.

Former Minister Yogesh Shawney, Director Tourism Jammu Mr. R. S. Mehta, senior officers and engineers of Tourism and other departments accompanied the Minister during the visit

Reviewing the quality of work, Mr Jora directed the concerned to submit the Utilization Certificates for each completed work to the administrative department for early release of remaining funds.

During his visit, Jora inspected pace of progress on Rs. 88 lakh TRC complex and bathing Ghats. He was informed that the work on TRC was at final stage, while the construction of rain shelter sheds, gateway and Amphitheater have been already completed at a total cost of Rs. 30.28 lakh. He was also told that work on Rs. 1.01 crore RCC retaining wall, toilet block and changing room in the shrine area are in progress.

The Minister said that creation and upgradation of tourist related infrastructure at all pilgrimage sites of the state was the priority of the government. He said liberal central assistance has enabled the government to take several innovative measures to promote and show cases the varied tourism potential of the state.

Yogesh Shawney, apprised the Minister about other infrastructural necessities at the shrine. He appreciated the endeavors taken by the government to create facilities for the visiting pilgrims at Peerkhoh shrine
