Petrol Tankers Association goes on indefinite strike | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 15: On a day when major oil companies reduced petrol prices @2.22 per litre J&K Petrol Tank/ Owners Association went on indefinite strike to protest against the daily harassment they had to face on account of long traffic snarls near oil depot in Transport Nagar area. Protesting against the alleged incident of beating of one of the senior members of the association by two unidentified youth late Monday evening the members of the petrol tank owners association and truckers association took out a protest march in Transport nagar before starting their indefinite strike on Tuesday and threatened to extend their strike if their concerns were not addressed suitably. “Due to non-lifting of petrol supplies through out the day the commuters across the state may start facing the crisis if the strike continued for another few days, the protestors said. The agitated members of the petrol tank owners association accused the state government and the senior authorities for not able to throw open the alternate road link to the transport nagar to reduce the traffic congestion. The trucker association ferrying FCI supply to far flung areas of the valley too is observing indefinite strike along with the petrol tank owners association and also demanded immediate redressal of their demands. The association have set a deadline to end their protest, the day the authorities will restore the alternate road we will call off out strike. |
