| J&K registers 69-run win over Chhattisgarh in U-22 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 15: Host Jammu and Kashmir tasted their second win of the season after they beat visiting Chhattisgarh by 69 runs in the Col. C K Nayadu under-22 Cricket Tournament played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
However, Chhattisgarh batsmen teased the host bowlers in the post lunch session when they virtually delayed the moments of joy. The tale-enders provided inform, Vishwal Khushwa the valuable support in raising his individual total to 177 and bringing the target close.
The end of Chhattisgarh innings came when Vishwal caught by Deepak Manhas off Manik Gupta on the long-on.
Despite brilliant innings of 177 runs, Vishwal could not lead Chhattisgarh overhaul the daunting task and the whole side bowled out for 369 in 66 overs. Still he enjoyed the batting by hitting the bowlers hard. His two huge sixes were admired by one and all.

It was a team effort that made it an outright win for J&K. First the bowlers made their presence felt by bowling out Chhatisgarh at 130 after posing first innings total of 275. Later, two centuries coming from skipper Aditya Pratap Singh (112) and Shubham Khajuria (116) brought visitors under tremendous pressure with J&K declaring their innings at 283 for eight thereby setting a huge target of 429.

Meanwhile, the under-22 side of Jammu and Kashmir performed well this season by winning two games against Assam and Chhattisgarh and held Goa to a draw. The team also gained first innings lead against Viderbah. However, they could not do well against formidable Haryana and lost the match.

For today’s impressive 69 runs win against Chhattisgarh, president of JKCA, Dr Farooq Abdullah has announced a cash reward of Rs 30,000 for each player of the victorious team, Association spokesman, Ranjit Kalra told SAN.
