Police foil bid to smuggle cattle in trucks loaded with FCI ration | | | JAMMU: Police today foiled a bid of four persons to smuggle milch animals in two trucks which were loaded with FCI rice and wheat. SSP, Udhampur, Shakeel Ahmad Beig said cops subjected two trucks -- JK03/2061 and JK03/1019) -- to checking at Kud and recovered nine animals which were hidden behind the rice and wheat bags of FCI. The trucks and the animals were then seized. Four accused, who were apprehended by police, were identified as driver of truck (JK03/2061) Abdul Qayoom Naik, son of Ghulam Hassan Naik of Vernal, Kulgam, conductor Sajjad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir of Churat, Kulgam, the other truck's driver Sajjad Ahmed, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat, and conductor Raqjeet Ahmed Mir, son of Mohammad Amin, both residents of Churat. The animals were detected in the trucks by Kud police station SHO, Inspector Pradeep Gupta. The accused were booked under relevant sections of law. |
