| SPO killed in Kishtwar encounter, search op continues | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15: One SPO got killed in an encounter between militants and security forces which occurred in a remote area Dachan of Kishtwar here this morning, sources said adding that ultras escaped the cordon while the searches are on in the target area.
According to police acting on a tip off about the presence of Mohammad Amin Butt Jahangir resident of Saroor Kishtwar and his associates in Dachhan area of Kishtwar District some 265 KM from Jammu, Kishtwar police and troops of 17 RR launched a search operation in forest area of Dachhan and established a contact with the militants in Sewarbati (Dangdooro) forest area of Dachhan at around 06.00 Hrs on Tuesday morning. Police said during the fierce gun battle one Special Police Officer (SPO) identified as Bilal Ahmed Wani Belt No 1053/SPO Son of Ghulam Ahmed Wani resident of Thakrie Kishtwar received fatal injury and got killed. Sources said that said that security forces have launched a major hunt in forest areas of Dachhan to trace out the escaped militants who are on run.
Meanwhile army sources believe that the group of militant led by Jahingir is still hiding inside the forest area covered by the security forces. Army sources claims that as their inputs Jahingir and his associates is still trapped inside the cordon of security forces spread over the area of 2 KM inside the forest area of Dachhan.
Meanwhile the body of martyred SPO Bilal Ahmed was brought to Kishtwar and presented Guard of Honor. The body was taken to his native village Thakraie for last rites in presence of DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range Manish Kishore Sinha with other senior Police Officers. The DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range too have expressed his heartfelt sympathy with the family of martyred SPO. |
