| Orientation meet of farmers club organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Nov 16: To sensitize the role and functions of farmers club, a one day orientation meet of farmers club was organized by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) here at Mandli of tehsil Billawar.
SDM Billawar Jatinder Kumar Singh who inaugurated the workshop was chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Aman Kalsotra DDM, NABARD, Kathua explained the role of farmers club,
activities undertaken by the club etc,
He further informed the duties and responsibilities of chief volunteers / volunteer of the farmers club. The farmers were also explained the facilities available under Joint Liabilities Group and Kissan Credit Card etc. AGM, NABARD
Ramesh Kumar explained the role of farmers club in the country and also exhorted them to work in tandem with the banks and avail credit for improving their status.
He promised that the farmer’s club doing good work will be sent on exposure visits.
B.R. Verma, Deputy Registrar, Cooperatives Department informed the role of the department in procurement of seed and fertilizers etc.
He stressed upon the farmers to strength the cooperative structure by strengthening their Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS).
Jatinder Kumar Singh, IAS, SDM Billawar congratulated NABARD on holding this
workshop.
He impressed upon the farmers to come forward and avail credit and subsidy benefits from the banks, by establishing income generating units. During the function farmers exhibited ken interest in the workshop and were interested in further training inputs.
The farmers enquired whether training can be conducted for mushroom, bee keeping units so that farmers may try to cultivate mushroom in their farm houses.
