International musical show of USA hosted by Natrang | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 16: Natrang hosted a rock show presented by a New York (USA) based music band ‘Solar Punch’ at its studio Theatre, Jammu. In the honor of the visiting artists which include Alan Biglow, Andrew Matina, James Dean, Joe Mitch and Alisa, Natrang presented rarest Dogri singing traditions ‘Bhaakh’ and ‘Geetru’ which were well received by them and they were mesmerized by the power of the folk music, the content of the same was the concern of the farmers about the deteriorating Global Environmental scenario. The show was coordinated through Indian youth Climate network, which is the largest environment organization in South Asia, with 19 chapters across India, working for the cause of environment. This unique event by solar punch was aimed at creating awareness about environment and climate solutions through music performance. Other than musical performance which include some Hindi songs also, they also shared their wonderful experiences of their four visits in India. Solar Punch is a solar-powered eco rock band from New York on a green mission to India. They use music to educate about the environment and transmit solutions to climate change. The Solar Punch music team which comprised of four artists mesmerized the audience through their highly evocative singing. Their music is about the environment, ecology and social issues relevant to a sustainable lifestyle, they use music to sing about science and the environment and hold workshops to help explain simple solar concepts and provide examples of where solutions are in use at locations around the world. Speaking on the occasion Natrang Director Balwant Thakur said that it has been the endeavor of Natrang to play host to such occasions in the town which provides platform for the local artists to have creative interaction with visiting International performers. He thanked Ritu Israni, the coordinator of Youth Climate network for providing Natrang an opportunity to host to such an important happening in the city of temples. Natrang artists who interacted with the visiting artists include Anil Tikoo, Neeraj Kant and Sumeet Sharma. On the occasion Srishthi Band, a local music group also performed and was appreciated by the visiting artists. The artists of the band include Sumit Sharma, Gautam Kotwal, Aneesha Kour and Bhavneet. Later Natrang director Balwant Thakur presented souvenirs of his internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ to all the visiting International artists. The souveniers contains the DVD of the play which represents the true cultural essence of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
