JAMMU, Nov 17: Two persons including son of expelled BJP leader were arrested by Gandhi Nagar police in the late hours of Wednesday for breach of peace during BJP's rally .A case under section 107/15 has been registered against them.
Meanwhile, political leaders have termed this act as duel face of police as similar incident occurred in Samba on October 20, 2010 when Rajesh Pangotra, Jammu and Kashmir Panther Party (JKNPP) leader, waived black flags in village Avtaal in Ramgarh sector to express anguish against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah but no action on the part of police was taken in this connection.
According to police sources Anil Gupta son of MLA Chaman Lal Gupta resident of Gandhi Nagar and his associate Raja Vivek son of Kewal Krishan of Tallab Tillo were lifted by police from their residence in late hours on the complaint of BJP workers that the duo showed black flags to LK Advani and made attempt to disrupt the rally.
Pertinent to mention here that Anil Gupta formed Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party (JKDP) after his father was expelled by BJP high Command over 'cash for vote' Issue.
After the arrest of the duo, the activists of JKDP gheroed the Police Station Gandhi Nagar demanding the release of the duo. The protestors raising anti BJP slogans said that showing black flags is not a criminal offence but to express resentment. However, a police officer giving information said that both made several attempt to disrupt rally.
Worth to mention that besides airing of black flags during Advani's Jan Chetna rally, the Congress Seva Dal activists led by State Chief Congress Seva Dal Balbinder Singh Sambyal staged protest against the Rath Yatra of L.K. Advani.
The Congress Seva Dal activists also burnt the effigy of the BJP leader L K Advani however they attempt to disrupt Advani's rally was foiled by the police. Meanwhile Seva Dal activists reportedly staged protest in all the district and tehsil headquarters of state and condemned the Balbinder Singh Sambyal. They urged that Govt should release the Seva Dal workers and take action against erring police officials.
In his statement Sambyal alleged that Advani's Yatra has the hidden agenda of the BJP is to spread communalism and regionalism in the country. He warned the BJP leadership that they should avoid negative tactics to just get the power and leave the communal path of politics which is very dangerous for the national integrity. Sambyal alleged BJP's hunger for power politics is creating many problems in the development of the nation.
