Jammu, Nov 16: Raising the pitch over 'whole hearted' support to Army over the controversial issue of partial revocation of AFSPA recommended by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah , BJP stalwart LK Advani today said Government of India should firmly convey it to Omar that no decision could be taken without Army's nod in the matter. Senior leader Arun Jaitely questioned the wisdom of Chief Minister in recommending its revocation in only few districts, contending that he has no idea how anti miltancy operations are fought by the security forces. Both the leaders came down heavily upon over the issue of corruption saying both Congress led UPA as well as its alliance government were 'corrupt' and encouraging 'corruption'.
The two BJP stalwarts targetted Omar Abdullah at a rally organised here today in connection with party's 'Jan Chetna Yatra which reached Jammu today. ' Taking a dig at the NC led coalition government in handling 'sensitive' issues in the J&K state, Advani alleged Army was being unnecessarily demonised by the government by projecting the things in a manner as if the situation on account of their presence was 'grave'." Things are being portrayed in a manner as if Army is responsible for the miseries of people in Kashmir……which is totally false and amounts to demoralising and hurting them". Strongly defending Army, Advani said the removal of AFSPA will handicap the Army, which he asserted has done a commendable job in tackling terrorism in the state. Opposing the move of the Chief Minister, the BJP stalwart emphasized Army's nod was necessary before any decision on part or full revocation of AFSPA could be taken.
Arun Jaitley said that the demand had vested interests as both central and state government were corrupt "Probably Omar Abdullah has no idea how insurgencies are fought…….it will leave Army handicapped while chasing the militants from one district to another….." Jaitely said adding that revocation of AFSPA is an irrelevant discussion. Both the leaders said Omar spent six days in New Delhi in support of this campaign which is meaningless and would only 'weaken the nation'. Launching a scathing attack on the Chief Minister, Jaitey said that Omar had initiated an "irrelevant" debate on AFSPA's withdrawal from select areas in the state without understanding the intricacies of the insurgency in the state.
"This Act doesn't just protect the Army but also the CRPF. For the last six days, the discussion started by the Chief Minister on the revocation of AFSPA is an irrelevant one. It's not possible for the Army to fight militancy on one hand and to get trapped in unnecessary litigations at the same time", Jaitley observed, while substanting his point. Both the leaders criticised Centre for new bonhlmied with Pakistan contending this would not yeiled any result nor would calling Pak PM Gilani as messenger of peace make any diiference as he is himself unable to contain and curb terrorism his country. They said NDA initiated talks with Pak on the condition of zero tolerance towards terrorism .
The BJP leaders also came down heavily upon the NC- Congress coalition over growing corruption in the state. Contending that BJP is the only party to muster courage to take actions against corruption , they slammed the Omar led coalition in J&K . Targetting Omat Jaitely said ,"Its is surprsisng how a corrupt agent or party worker reached the residence of CM…….", he said referring to Haji Yousuf case. However, both the leaders chose to remain silent over the circumstances that led to death of NC worker and created furore in the state. Terming both Centre and J&K government as corrupt, the BJP leaders said lakhs of crores of blackmoney is in Swiss Banks which if managed back can help build a new India. The 2 G spectrum corruption is unprecedented and biggest ever scandal after country's independence, they remarked targetting Congress led UPA. The BJP leaders also said party is tooth and nail opposed to granting pre 53 status to J&K contending it would have serious ramifications.
