CAUSE holds maiden drug awareness programme
Need to fight this evil: experts

JAMMU, Nov 17: CAUSE (Concerned about Universal Social Empowerment), an NGO, in collaboration with NSS unit of GGM Science College on Thursday organized a drug awareness campaign wherein SDPO west, Rouf Hassan was the Guest of Honor whereas Dr. Mannu Arora, Physiatrist, Government Medical College Hospital and Dr. Jaspal Singh, Coordinator Med. Directorate of Distance Education were the resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, DySP condemned the involvement of youth in drug addiction and termed it as failure of the nation. He exhorted upon the youth to shun the use drugs and live a healthy life. “The police is trying to eradicate the menace from its roots, but it needs social awareness, which the NGOs like CAUSE are contributing”, said DySP Giving brief detail about the CAUSE, K.Koushal, member CAUSE said it is a body of professional, young and energetic social workers with an aim of contributing and working for betterment of the society. After achieving mile stones in Kashmir, CAUSE has launched its campaign in Jammu.
While taking on the occasion, Dr. Jaspal held over exposure responsible for the spread of drug addiction. “Urging the society especially youth to come forward to fight this evil which is engulfing the future of the nation, said Jaspal.
Giving reference of the past, Dr. Mannu Arora said that from last one decade drug addiction in Jammu is on rampage and the need of the hour is to induce society to act against this evil. “At present the variability of drug addiction is as such that at times it becomes difficult for doctors to diagnose the kind of drug taken”, said Dr Arrora.
While appreciating the efforts of the CAUSE, College Principal Dr. Satinder Singh said that such kind of programmes will enhance awareness among the society which are also beneficial for the growth of the nation. He added that NSS unit of college will always be determined to work on the social issue.
He also said that he and his college NSS team while thanking CAUSE for organizing this wonderful event in the College said that these types of programs bring awareness in the youth against the drugs. He highly appreciated the role of the CAUSE, who is organizing this type of events in the state and said that this noble cause should be supported by everybody. Cause member, Koushal deliver the vote of thanks.
