| PCC leaders hail ‘Roshni’ scheme, demand ST status to Paharis | | | JAMMU JAN-08 In a joint statement Yash Pal Sharma General Secretary PCC and Gurdev Singh Secretary have hailed the decision of the State Government to implement Roshni Act in an amended form and expressed confidence that it would benefit both the farmers and refugees.
These leaders also demanded grant of Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari speaking people of Poonch district. Since majority of the people live below the poverty line, the grant of ST status to them would immensely benefit them economically, these leaders said. |
