Innovative fruit plantation techniques discussed in Horticulture awareness camp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Majouri (Dudu Basantgarh) Nov 17: A horticulture awareness camp was organized in Majouri area of Dudu Basantgarh under the chairmanship of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amit Sharma in which fruit growers and farmers were enlightened about latest and innovative techniques for creating huge orchids and fruit nurseries in high potential yielding belt of Dudu Basantgarh. Lot of farmers who are already growing cash rich fruit crops hailing from Majouri, Rasli Gadheran, Rasli Thakurai, Mang, Pachound, Keya, Kaitha, Gandhtop, Upper Balota and Basantgarh attended this informative and educative camp at Majouri and gathered lot of useful knowledge about the latest trends and incentive driven schemes of Horticulture Department. SDM Amit Sharma in his keynote address emphasized on the need of utilizing the advantages of topography and climatic conditions prevailing in Dudu Basantgarh which are perfect for all kinds of plantation, especially strawberry, kiwi, apple, apricot and medicinal plants such as Aloe Vera which not only are cash rich crops but also have lot of demand all across the globe. He also mentioned that it increases the aesthetic beauty of different belts of Sub Division and make full utilization of latest schemes such as Poly Green Houses, Rejuvenation Methods, Vermicomposting Units, Gap Filling, Top Working, Water Conservation techniques which can really prove as an asset to the fruit growing community of Dudu Basantgarh. Amit Sharma directed the officers of Horticulture department to organize more such camps in different belts of Sub Division on regular basis so that more and more farmers are made aware about the latest trends in fruit growing and take the lead in developing orchids and nurseries here. He even assured them that once good amount of horticulture produce starts coming up in Dudu Basantgarh on regular basis, a Fruit Mandi can also be proposed in some central location for safeguarding the interest of fruit growers here. Others who talked about the schemes and incentives of department included SMS Plant Pathology C.L Sharma, SMS Entomology Anil Gorkha and HDO Majouri Sanjeev Kumar who talked at length about the facilities and support of department for farming community through RKVY and Horticulture Technology Mission and they also gave practical demonstrations of pruning of plants for increasing productivity and ensuring better plantation. They also distributed few seeds and buds of fruit bearing plants to farmers alongwith useful literature mentioning about the schemes, role of departments and contact numbers. Before culmination of Awareness Camp, SDM Amit Sharma also assured the masses that many such camps are already lined up for creating mass awareness about all employment related drives and a latest one is also coming up next week in which MSME, GoI shall provide a five-week long training to unemployed youth in a lucrative job oriented trade likewise in the same manner as has been happening in Dudu Basantgarh since last two years.
