Seema to sing at Faiz centennial closure ceremony at Karachi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 17: Melodious musical notes of noted Indian singer Seema Anil Sehgal will wrap up the yearlong centennial celebrations of renowned Urdu poet from Pakistan, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, on Sunday, November 20, at Karachi. Seema has been invited to sing poems of Faiz during the three-day long closing ceremony of the Faiz centennial celebrations under the aegis of Progressive Writers’ Association Pakistan, which has organized 100 events, during the year 2011, all over world to mark the 100th birthday of the poet. Karachi event is the last and the 100th event and this event is supported by the federal government of Pakistan and the provincial Sindh government. Seema will sing two live solo concerts at Karachi, one on the opening day of the closing ceremony, on 18 November and again, on 20 November, to mark the formal ending to the centennial celebrations. Both the concerts will be presented by Seema’s husband and music connoisseur squadron leader Anil Sehgal. Seema earlier sang poems of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, at the International Urdu Conference, at New York. It may be recalled that Seema sang the first-ever live solo concert of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, in 1986, at the House of Soviet Culture, New Delhi.
