| Dr Farooq Fayaz is new Director ASC KU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar Nov 17 (KNS): Prominent author, historian and academician Dr. Farooq Fayaz has been appointed as new director of the prestigious UGC, Academic Staff College University of Kashmir (KU), according to an order circulated today.
A senior faculty of the post graduate Department of History, KU Dr Fayaz is the author of several books including the academy award wining Kashmir folk lore – a study in historical perspective and the recent one “ Sheikul Alam: Kashmir revisited,
He has contributed numerous research papers on Kashmir history, language literature and heritage in leading national and international journals besides local and regional newspapers. An expert in folklore Dr Fayaz has won several honurs for his outstanding contribution to Kashmiri literature and theatre.
Dr Fayaz is the member of the prominent organizations including Kashmir foundation of art and culture, writers organization for research development (WORD), Kashmir writers association (KRA) and served as a member Kashmiri advisory committee Sahitya Akadami New Delhi.
