His Holiness’s visit to Jammu will promote tourism in JK: JPVM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, November 17, 20ll-Jammu Paryatan Vikas MandaI (JPVM) an apex body of 22 tourism and pilgrimage related trade organizations and social groups, has expressed its hope that the visit of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama to Ambaran and Kala Kendra Jammu on Wednesday will encourage flow of tourists in state. A meeting of JPVM held here today under the Chairmanship of Ravi Mahajan and attended by Kuldeep Wahi, President of the MandaI, Inderjeet Khajuria General Secy Davinder Choudry, Aashiq Hussain, BB Kotwal, Madhu Sharma and Pawan Gupta took stock of the visit of the spiritual leader to Jammu and also chalked out a follow up plan of this visit, for promotion of pilgrimage and heritage tourism in the area. JPVM extending its thanks to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma, Member Lok Sabha Madan Lal Sharma, Tourism Minister Nawang Rig Zin Jora, the other State Cabinet Ministers, the Departments of Tourism, and others associating bodies including Buddhist Study Centre University of Jammu and people who participated in large numbers, the JPVM has offered its fullest support, active assistance and fullest participation in developing the spot as an important centre of Buddhist heritage and bring it on the heritage tourism map of the country and the world as a whole. Demanding that the entire belt on the bank of Chenab River, linking Ambaran and the historical place of Jio Pota be developed as heritage tourism circuit, JPVM has pledged its active participation in making the project a great success. Ravi Mahajan stated that Jammu Paryatan Vikas MandaI was the First to announce inviting the Dalai Lama to Ambaran, as a source of information to development and promotion of the Buddhist site at Ambaran.
