Rs 10 crore Heroin catch
Another trans-border narco smuggler held, case registered at PS Akhnoor

Jammu, Nov 17: Sleuths of Special Operation Group (SOG) achieved success when they arrested another trans-border narcotic smuggler in late hours raids conducted in Akhnoor area. A case FIR no 259/2011 u/s 8/22/23 NDPS Act has been registered against them.
Police said that the arrested has been identified as Rajinder Kumar son of Shankar Dass of Choki Chora,Akhnoor.
Police said that on Wednesday night Special Operations Group Jammu team along with Akhnoor Police on inputs laid a naka at Daskal on Jammu Poonch Highway and arrested one narcotic smuggler identified as Ved Prakash alias Veda son of Gian Chand of Lajjo Chak, Hiranagar. Police team recovered ten kilograms of Heroin worth Rupees10 crores in the International market from his possession however his associate escaped from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
After preliminarily questioning by SOG, the duo of trans-border smugglers was later handed over to the Akhnoor Police for further investigation of the case.
Police also mentioned that Ved Parkash alias Veda is a renowned notorious trans-border narcotics smuggler who has been held earlier also by the Jammu Police with consignments of contraband. Earlier in the year 1983 he was apprehended by Pacca Danga Police along with a consignment of Eighteen (18) kilograms of charas and in the year 2003 he was held in Delhi along with a consignment of two (2) kilograms of Heroin.
Briefing further about the narcotic smugglers, police said that in the year 2009 during a specially organized naka at Sainth in Khour, the then SDPO Akhnoor had apprehended him along with his two associates namely Tarsem Singh alias Foji son of Balwant Singh resident of Gho Manasan Jammu and Tarsem son of Thoru Ram resident of Treva RS Pura on June 18 and recovered a consignment of six (6) kilograms of Heroin worth Rupees six crores in the international market from their possession.
According to police the narcotics smugglers had received the narcotics consignment from their associates on the LOC and had to deliver the consignment to their counterparts in Punjab from where it was further to be smuggled to Delhi to Nigerians who float the contraband in the International market.
The arrest of the narcotics smuggler Ved Parkash and his associate is the second big catch by the Jammu Police in the recent times after the recovery of five (5) kgs of Heroin in the month of September in Khour from the possession of three motorcycle borne youth namely Tulsi Raj s/o Anant Ram r/o Pargwal, Ravinder Singh s/o Rashpal Singh r/o Lehad Akhnoor and Dilawar Singh s/o Sham Singh r/o Channi Dewana Akhnoor in case FIR no 69/2011 u/s 8/22/23 NDPS Act PS Khour. The case has been challaned in the Court of Law.
