'Rotational CM imperative for equitable development of all regions' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 17: As there were voices from within the have pitched issue of 'rotational chief minister' time and again, the All J&K Movement for Peace & Justice today advocated the same and appealed the Congress high command to consider the issue seriously for the development of the three regions of the state and to end the voices of regional discrimination as well. In a press statement issued today, Kuldeep Kumar Rao an active member of All J&K Movement for Peace & Justice (AJKMPJ) has urged the Congress high command at the centre to consider seriously some points regarding the J&K state politics. Underlining the need for due initiatives to end the alleged discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh against the Kashmir, Rao said, "Right from 1948 there has been supremacy of Kashmiri politicians in the governance of the state. It is still controlling except for the brief period of 2 and half years." Recalling the tenure when Azad took the reins in his hand and held Chief Ministership, he said, "The Kashmiri leadership seemed top fail to tolerate him as full term of 3 years in chair of Chief Ministership when Jammu region saw for the first time some concrete development." And there were every attempt to dislodge his chair and the Kashmir based politics unitedly succeeded in their evil motives. "Though Omar Abdullah claims that he is going to retain chair for full term of assembly as per agreement among coalition partners but the things have turned irksome for Jammu and Ladakh when the two regions once again have been denied of the their share in allotments of funds and other allocations, Rao said, adding that things have changed drastically so we urge Congress to respect aspirations of the people of Jammu and Ladakh who too have faith in true democracy.' Recalling past, he said, "In November 2008 J&K State assembly elections giving a split verdict, with no party getting simple majority, a deal was struck between the NC, which had emerged as the single largest party, with Congress to form a coalition govt. unlike after the results of State assembly elections in 2002 when Congress-PDP Govt formed a coalition on the term of rotational chief minister from the two major coalitional partners for three years each but in 2008 the Congress doled out the chair of chief minister to NC leadership for the full term in good faith. "But everything is different as Congress has anticipated earlier, Rao said. Rao said, "All J&K Movement for Peace & Justice does not approve this approach of full time chief minister and thus we strongly demand that the rotational system should be restarted & this opinion of ours is should by all the other organizations as well as general public of Jammu province. Rejecting what he alleged an arrogant statement of Sheikh Ghulam Ahmed Salora - the provisional secretary NC, in which he has asserted that "No power can change CM", Rao said, "Omar as chief Minister has done nothing worthwhile in this region but has reportedly remained occupied in tweeting only. Cautioning Congress leadership Rao said, " We appeal Congress leadership of the state to raise their strong voice for change in rotational Chief Minister and take up the issue with Congress high command at the centre to accede to this positively otherwise Congress will suffer greatly in the next Assembly election in the state. |
