| Rtd doctor, mother-son among seven apprehended running illegal clinic | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 18:Seven persons including a retired government doctor, woman and her son were arrested for running a clinic illegally in Shankar Vihar area falling under the jurisdiction of Narwal Police Post, in a raid that was jointly conducted by police and health department officials here today.
The arrest of Pushpa Chandel alias Mammi wife of Dhyan Chand of
Billawar at present Shankar Vihar and her son Ajay Singh came, following raid conducted by the health department officials led by Chief Medical Officer, Jammu Baldev Sharma, who suspected that duo mother and son could also have been involved in conducting illegal abortions.
Besides mother and son five other persons including a retired government doctor identified as KS Jamwal of Ambphalla, one patient, two attendants and a nurse trainee of Janipur were also arrested. A police officer said that the nursing staff was about to operate a patient when raid was conducted.
On being searched the premises of an illegal clinic, police recovered some medicines and two boxes of gloves bearing stamps of health department, investigation on the part of which is being conducted by police. However, a case FIR No 3/8/10 Nursing Home and Clinic Establishment Act, 420 RPC has been registered against them.
Sources said that on being questioned Pushpa admitted that she was instrumental for female feticide for the last six years. She said that people who were confirmed of female child in the womb of women came to her clinic were abortions were done. Further, investigation was in progress.
