Crime Branch books fake migrant couple

JAMMU, Nov 18:Crime Branch, Jammu has registered a case against a fake migrant couple who in connivance with the then officials of Relief Organisation, Jammu had fraudulently drawn relief in their favour there by causing loss to the state exchequer.
According to Crime Branch, Jammu sources one Bhupinder Singh son of Sajjan Singh of H No F-177, Sector- 11, Nanak Nagar, Jammu lodged a complaint in Crime Headquarters alleging that Devinder Kour wife of Manjit Singh of Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar at present H No F-178, Sector No 11, Nanak Nagar, Jammu along with her husband and children identified as Jasvinder Singh and Rameet Kour are getting migrant relief as is being given to the employees of State Government as migrants both in cash and kind since 1990.
The complainant said that relief has been claimed by them illegally in connivance with some employees of Relief Organisation despite the fact that they never migrated to Jammu in 1990 as she was residing along with her family at Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar till the year 2000 and her children were studying in New Convent High School, Gogji Bagh, Srinagar till the year 2000.
They got the ration from CA&PD Department, Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar under
Ration Book No. 58770, Shumar No. 288, Khana No. 210/2 showing therein total strength of members of the family as four. They have been getting migrant relief both in cash and kind from Counter No 2 under Ticket No. 161 which is for the migrants residing at Nanak Nagar,
Jammu and located at Shastri Nagar, Jammu. Her husband Manjit Singh is a Central Government employee who is working as Lower Division Clerk
(LDC) in the Ordinance Depot 2-FOD, Badami Bagh, Srinagar and he is drawing risk allowance from his employer, where he is posted.
On receipt of this complaint, an enquiry was initiated by Crime Branch, Jammu and during the course of enquiry, it has been found that the entire family of Devinder Kour was residing at Srinagar and had got registered as migrants at Jammu fraudulently in the year 1990 whereas the children had received their education at Srinagar. The said Devinder Kour was registered as migrant on 19.12.1991 vide Registration No. 161, D- Form No. 039230 for four souls who had drawn cash relief amounting to Rs. 2,80,275/- and free ration worth Rs.
49,485.20 up to October 2006 which, prima facie, suggests that they in connivance with some officials of Relief Organisation have fraudulently drawn the relief in their favour, causing thereby loss to state exchequer. Accordingly a formal case stand registered and investigation has started.
A case under section 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC r/w Section 5(2) PC Act Svt. 2006 against the accused couple has been registered and further inquiry was on.
