RAMSA would boost educational scenario of the state: Peerzada | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Nov 18: Expressing confidence that the benefits of Rashtriya Madhymik Shisha Abhiyan (RAMSA) would augment the education infrastructure in the State, the Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed called for concerted efforts of the all the stakeholders so that the benefits of literacy reach at every nook and corner of the State. The Minister was addressing at a concluding function of National level workshop and capacity building programme at SKICC Srinagar today in which district functionaries of Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh and J&K participated. The Minister expected better results of RAMSA in coming years like SSA and other Centrally Sponsored schemes already under implementation in the State. The Minister said government has accorded top priority to the education and it came in the limelight once again for which he thanked to the Central Government for funding whole heartedly. He said in the previous year, we did not allow any body to disrupt the education system and waste the academic years of the students. He asked the concerned agencies of the Jammu and Kashmir State to implement the scheme in transparent manner. The Minister said that 251Middles schools have been approved for up gradation during the year 2009-10 and 2010-11 besides strengthening of 99 existing High schools. He also said that provision of drinking water and toilet facilities has also been provided to 281 schools and a separate directorate established in the State under RMSA R&B department has been assigned the job for construction. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the J&K State RMSA and the department of secondary education, Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. Earlier, the State Project Director stressed upon the need of holding of such workshops for capacity building of field functionaries for proper planning and implementation of RMSA. The workshop was attended by the Sr. Consultants, Planning and other concerned officers5.
