| ASCOMS celebrates NEWBORN WEEK | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Nov 18: The department of Paediatrics, ASCOMS, Sidhra is celebrating Newborn Week from Nov 15-21 and in this context a number of scientific activities are being conducted in the department.
College Spokesperson said that the activities of the scheduled programme began with the interaction with parents of newborns admitted the ward on Nov 15, the very first day of the week. The parents were given various tips of successful nurturing of their newborns, he added. On the same day there was a seminar on the topic “Nursing Care in Nursery” which was attended by staff members of Paediatrics department and staff members and students from Nursing School. Miss Harjeet Kaur, staff nurse from Paediatrics department gave a detailed overview on this topic. Principal, Nursing School appreciated the effort of Paediatrics department conduct of such activity involving students from nursing school. A symposium on Newborn Care was organized on 16th November in the College Auditorium.
Dr Rekha Harish, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatrics, SMGS Hospital was the chief guest on this occasion.
Dr Prenika Shangloo conducted the proceedings. Dr Ravinder K Gupta, Associate Professor, briefed about the activities being conducted during this week.
Dr Geetu Mahajan (Gynae & Obs), Dr Nira Singh (Pediatrics), Dr Shakti Mengi (Pharmacology), Dr Y Mengi (Paediatric Surgery)and Dr Shweta Sharma (PSM) spoke on various aspects on the newborn care.
The creativity of these students was praised by the organizing secretary Dr Ravinder K Gupta. The best entries were suitably rewarded by Dr VK Gandotra and Principal, Nursing School.
The speakers in the symposium were also given prizes by Dr Rekha Harish & Dr DB Sharma.
