EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 18: With an aim to create a pool of young and talented footballers in Jammu and Srinagar for further grooming them into professional players, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank has selected about 33 boys from Winter Capital, here.
Finalised after a month-long exercise at Science College ground under the guidance of former bank players, these talented boys of Jammu were today exposed to the higher-ups of the premier financial institution of the state.
These boys in the age group of 14-17 year were encouraged by the special guest, executive president of the J&K Bank, Tafazal Hussain, who interacted with the players after witnessing a friendly game this afternoon.
Accompanied by a host of other senior officers of the bank, Tafazal, who is also president of the Sports Board of the J&K Bank said, “Through a similar exercise, we have already selected an equal number of boys at Srinagar. However, we are in the process of finalizing the guidelines for running these two coaching centers in the state capitals.”
When asked about how much time it will take the Board to come out with a document, the executive president said, “We will come out with a guiding document within a month’s time.”
Earlier, talking to the selected young footballers, the visiting officers said that the nursery of these boys would ultimately benefit the bank team in getting the talented stuff in a phased manner.
Among others present were Zonal Head president, O P Sharma, members of the Sports Board, resident secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, Surinder Singh Bunty and international football player from the state, Arun Malhotra.
