Women empowerment day celebrated

JAMMU, November 18 : To showcase the strength of Co-operative Movement being rejuvenated through the Jammu Women Credit Co-operative ltd in Jammu region, Women Empowerment day was celebrated in connection with 58th Co-operative week held at divisional office of JWCCL, Bakshi Nagar ,Jammu.
Minister of state , independent charge, Co-operatives ,J&K, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. The function was presided over by the chairperson of JWCCL, Kailash Verma.
Besides a commissioner secretary Co-operative Department Abdul Hamid Wani,Registerar Co-operatives Mohammad Abass Dar were the guest of honour . Senior congress leader Janak Raj Gupta and Ex Co-operative Minister Chowdhary Gharu Ram also graced the occasion.
Other dignitaries of state Co-operative deaprtmeny were also present on the occasion including nodal officer for JWCCl , Sheela Bhagat .

In her welcome address Nodal officer Sheela Bhagat threw light on the activities of Jammu Women Credit Co-operative ltd. She appreciated the efforts of the chairperson of JWCCL Kailash Verma for strengthening the Co-operative movement in state .
While giving the details of the work done for the empowerment of women ,especially rural women, chairperson JWCCL Kailash Verma said that with an active team of board of directors of the ltd which include Lalita Sharma, Renu Sharma, Nirmal Sambyal, Kausshalya Sharma , Ranjana Gupta, Zohra Khatun, Vimal Rajput, Sunita Kumari and Secy.Rama Mehta about 26 branches of the JWCCl have been opened in Jammu division having 9450 members as it’s share holders. She apprised the Minister that JWCCL has given loan about 1 crore,60 lacs to the needy women out of which Rs. 45 lacs have been recovered from the women.
She said that ltd has FDR deposits of 7 lacks of 53 women. Verma urged the Minister to bestow his benevolence by extending full Co-operation to the cause of women empowerment and asked for giving consent to the proposal for the formation of two societies for women.
