Gas agencies charging more money from common man : Shiv Sena | | | Early Times Report JAMMU , November 18 : Jammu and Kashmir Shri Ram Sena has raised a public interest issue in which it was said that every cooking gas agency in Jammu and Kashmir is charging Rs 430 per domestic cylinder instead of actual rate Rs 428.50 thus giving undue benefit of crores of rupees to people involved in this trade illegally, but very openly and unresistingly. State president Rajiv Mahajan said that lakhs of gas cylinders are sold every day and lakhs of rupees are earned by these agency holders illegally on the pretext that they have no change (coins) to return to the consumer and ask consumer to pay exact amount i.e. Rs 428.50 which almost no consumer has and is compelled to pay extra amount and this compulsion of consumer makes these gas agencies gain extra profit which counts in crores of rupees. Mahajan further said that on one hand the government has stopped the circulation of 50 paise coin in the market and on the other rates of essential commodities are fixed on 50 paise denomination. Mahajan alleged that ministers at the helm of the affairs knowingly fix these types of rates to make undue benefit illegally, but in a very open, swift process through these agencies. Mahajan urged the Central government as well as State government to fix the rates of such like commodities in the denominations of rupees instead of 50 paise and for more affective and convenient process in the denominations of Rs 5 to stop this illegal practice. Mahajan said that by fixing the rates in round figures at least this eligible amount of an individual customer which grandly amounts in crores may be deposited in government treasury for developmental works which otherwise is illegally collected by the persons at the helm of affairs for their petty personal interests.
