| PDP lambasts centre for supporting Omar led govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Nov 19:Peoples’ Democratic Party staged a massive protest demonstration
against Punjab and Union Governments for allegedly adopting a
discriminatory attitude towards Jammu and Kashmir.
Shouting slogans, the PDP activists led by their district president
Surinder Singh burnt the effigies of Union and Punjab governments.
President Singh alleged that Punjab Government has defrauded the J&K
people by not honouring the Ranjit Sagar agreement as jobs promised to
hundreds of the dam oustees’ families have not been provided as per
agreement.
They alleged that the Punjab Government has not paid crores of power
tariff dues payable to JK vis a vis no water or electricity is being
provided to JK as per the agreement.
People of JK particularly of Kathua district felt cheated as Kandi
area of Kathua is facing acute shortage of water. The proposed barrage
at Basantpur has not been constructed even after so many decades.
Surinder Singh lambasted the central government for its criminal
silence and support to Omar led Govt which he termed as highly
corrupt, incompetent and involved in the killings of hundreds of
innocent people besides ‘murder’ of Haji Yousuf.
