Full backing of party to disqualify MLAs: Manhas
11/19/2011 9:55:52 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 19:The decision of Bharatiya Janta Party legislative party leader Jugal
Kishore Sharma to seek disqualification of the erring MLAs from the
party has the full and complete backing and affirmation of the entire
party leadership, both at State and Central level, said BJP state
President Shamsher Singh Manhas in a statement issued by him from
Nagpur where he alongwith other senior leaders is attending 2-day
important meet which had been planned since long back.
Manhas said that there was never any dithering or intentional delay in
deciding the matter by the Jugal Kishore Sharma, nor was any second
thought entertained by the party on coming down heavily on corruption
and dishonesty in public life and in the party. The party’s Central
disciplinary Committee had after an in-depth enquiry and investigation
come to the conclusion that these disqualified six MLAs had not voted
for the party’s candidate in the last election to Legislative Council
in spite of having been issued a whip by the Chief Whip of the
Legislative party. The BJP does not and will not countenance any
dishonesty or corruption, even among its own persons and would be very
strict and uncompromising. Upright conduct and rectitude being the
creed of BJP, hence the action of disqualifying many MLAs was taken in
a sensitive state like J&K.
Manhas added that party would never compromise or be lenient on the
matters of corruption even among its high and mighty personages.
Hence, it did not deviate from the path of taking the matter to its
logical conclusion at the touch-stone of its ideology of moral
conduct.
Shamsher Singh Manhas further clarified that the announcement of
decision to seek disqualification of the MLAs had been made in their
absence at the state hqrs as all important leaders of the party had to
attend RSS meeting at Nagpur which was planned long back. The decision
of disqualification had been taken by the lawful authority and in
accordance with provision of law on the subject.
