| Concern of LA with regard to Lebanon situation to be conveyed to PM: Azad | | Tara Chand fixes Friday for discussing security scenario | | SRINAGAR, JULY 31 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad sharing the concern of the members with regard to the killings and destruction caused by the war waged by Israel on Lebanon, assured the Legislative Assembly today that he would on behalf of the Government and on behalf of the House and the people of the state convey the deep concern to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh requesting him to convey the feelings of the House and the people of Jammu and Kashmir State to the International Fora. He said there are some procedures and Parliamentary precedents for expressing concerns relating to the issues connecting foreign countries as such under such norms of law, the concern of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be conveyed, he added. He was responding to the demand of members of Legislative Assembly who demanded that Government should convey their deep concern over the situation that has been created by Israel in Lebanon. Soon the House started on Monday, the Members from the opposition rose on their seats demanding discussion on the security scenario prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir. They also demanded conveying of the concern of the House to the Centre Government with regard to the killings and destruction by the Israel in Lebanon. Responding to their demand with regard to discussing security scenario in the House, the Speaker Mr. Tara Chand fixed Friday for discussing the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. Various members including Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami, Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar raised the points regarding the adjournment motion to discuss the duo subjects. Mr. Tara Chand giving ruling said that technically the subject of security does not call for adjournment, however, he admitted discussion on the issue fixing Friday for the same. The Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad also suggested that discussion should be held in the House after the prayers on Friday in the House. |
