11/19/2011 9:57:59 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
BILLAWAR, Nov 17:Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) today lambasted Omar Abdullah led
coalition government for its failure to solve problems of the common
people in general and farmers in particular. Party said that due to
wrong policies of the state government miseries of the people have
increased manifold.
Addressing a public meeting at Billawar, general secretary of PDP
Balbir Singh expressed concern over failure of the state government to
set up procurement centres for procuring paddy crops of the farmers.
He said that according to the official documents, nine procurement
centres have been established in Kathua district but in only two are
functions leading to hardship for the farming community. He smelt a
conspiracy between government officials and middlemen to force the
farmers to sell their produce on less prices. Singh leader pointed
that this regime was formed with out any programme and policy and
instead of solving basic problems of the common masses both leaders of
Congress and National Conference have been befooling the people by
making false promises.
Pointing towards problems of farmers, PDP general secretary said that
this regime has been adopting anti-farmers policies and not interested
in solving their problems. He maintained that during the last three
years National Conference led regime has not taken even a single step
for mitigating miseries of the common masses. “What to say of solving
problems of the people this regime has further compounding woes of the
people due to its wrong policies”, he observed. Pointing towards
shortage of ration in government runs depots; he regretted that due to
rampant corruption ration meant for poor people being sold in open
market.
He termed the present dispensation was one of the most corrupt and
anti-people government of the State.
