Indira Gandhi remembered on her 94th birth anniversary

JAMMU, Nov 19:The State remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 94th
birth anniversary with a series of programmes organised on the
occasion.
In a function held at Pradesh Congress Committee Headquarters Shaheedi
Chowk Jammu today, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi was solemnized.
The function was presided over by Dharam Pal Sharma-Ex-MP, Senior Vice
President while Mangat Ram Sharma former Deputy Chief Minister was the
Chief Guest on the occasion. The function was attended by senior
leaders of the PCC, DCC (Urban) and presidents of Block Congress
Committee of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangat Ram Sharma paid floral tributes to
the former Prime Minister and recalled her contributions towards the
country and the Congress party.
He recalled her supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the
nation and praised her leadership qualities who led the nation on the
path of overall progress and prosperity. He remembered her bold
decision to enter Indira-Sheikh Accord of 1975. He also referred to
her role in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
Dharam Pal Sharma-Ex-MP in his address recalled the great
contributions of Gandhi who was known as an iron lady for her
leadership qualities. She launched various welfare schemes for the
upliftment of the down trodden and poor sections of the society. He
recalled the memories of her visit to the state, when she was out of
power in 1977.
An impressive function, to pay homage to Indira Gandhi was organized
at Trikuta Nagar, Ward No 53 Jammu which was presided over by Youth
Congress leader Nitish Mahajan and Vinay Abrol Congress Ward
President.
A large number of the people from Trikuta Nagar society attended the function.
Nitish Mahajan in his tribute described Indira Gandhi a dynamic
personality who led the Nation to make it rich in the advanced
countries of the world in the field of modern science and technology.
He said that best way to pay tribute to the great leader is to
fructify her dream about making India the most advanced and developed
country of the world.
Sweets, Books and other stationary items were also distributed among
poor children during this function. Prominent those who attended this
function were MM Honda (District General Secretary Congress), Sham Lal
Gupta, Ravinder Singh, Ramesh Tikko, Neeta Dogra, Kulwant Singh,
Gurdev Singh, Amreek Singh, Ronik Sharma, Sushant Gupta and others
A meeting of the National Secretariat of Jammu Kashmir National
Panthers Party (JKNPP) was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of
its Chairman, Prof. Bhim Singh to remember one of the greatest leaders
of the world, Indira Gandhi, who led India as its Prime Minister for
several years with glorious innings to her credit.
The JKNPP paid heavy tributes to Indira Gandhi the pride of India on
her 94th birthday this day. Prof Bhim Singh described Indira Gandhi
as a great realistic and practical leader of India who led the nation
to victory in every field. He said that after Indira Gandhi there has
been a vacuum in the counter rather in entire Asia.
The new generation should learn how to you exercise determination will
commitment, with an agenda to strengthen National Integration for
global peace, harmony and justice.
Similar meetings were organized by the JKNPP in Srinagar, Chenani,
Jaipur, Chandigarh and other places.
Surya College of Education, Kathua organized a programme to celebrate
the 94th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in
the premises of the college.
On the occasion the students and entire staff members of the college
paid their floral tributes to Indira Gandhi and remembered the great
sacrifice and contribution of the former prime minister.
While addressing the gathering the staff of the college including Rajinder
Pacifist, Mega Badyal, Meenakshi, Jyoti Sharma, Babita Verma and
Madhu stressed upon the students to follow the path of late Indira
Gandhi in order to strengthen the roots of secularism and democratic
values in the country.
