| Issue of OBC and Dogra certificates to resolved soon | | | Jammu, Jan 9—The problems regarding the issue of social caste certificates to the members of other backward classes and Dogra certificates to the Dogras of Jammu are likely to be resolved soon. This was stated today by the deputy chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma in the State Assembly today while replying to the these issue raised by former social welfare minister Mula Ram and former education Minister Harshdev Singh respectively during the Zero hour. The deputy chief Minister said that matter concerning the issue of caste certificates to the OBC community was under serious consideration and government would ensure that people do not face any problems in this regard. While referring to Dogra certificates, he assured that that instructions would be given to the revenue authorities for doing the same. Earlier, the government in a reply to a question on the issue of implementation of Mandal Commision, admitted that these recommendations have not been implemented in the state in toto. It also stated that members of OBC community have been deprived of the category benefit as a clause has been incorporated into SRO-294 that beneficiary’s father must be in the profession of the said category for issuance of caste certificate. It was ,however, stated that Cabinet sub-committee is looking into the problems faced by the OBCs regarding the issuance of category certificate and the same would be resolved. Earlier speaking during the Zero Hour, former social welfare minister Mula Ram said that people belonging to the OBC community were facing lot of trouble in getting caste certificates. He asked the government to ensure that the people belonging to the downtrodden communities are not harassed in the name of formalities. Former education Minister Harshdev Singh also raised the problems being faced by the youth of Jammu for want of Dogra certificates. These certificates, the Udhampur MLA said helped the Dogra youth to get an easy entry into the Indian Army, but the refusal of the revenue authorities to issue the same had created career problems for them. Here it may be stated that Indian Army gives concessions of height and education to the Dogra inhabitants of Jammu region if they possess these certificates.
