ICA organizes felicitation function | IT launches toll free number, Iykar Sewa | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 19: Income Tax department today launched a toll free number in Jammu today for felicitating the different queries from the people including the traders and working class. The information was shared by K.S Pathania, Chief Income Tax Commissioner in a seminar cum felicitation function organized by Institution of Charter Accountants of India here today. Addressing gathering he said that 916 is the toll-free number launched in Jammu . With this number, one will be put in touch with someone right at the IRS who can assist him with his own personal tax situation if one has any questions besides other benefits. He further said that IT is also launched new block as Iykar Sewa for getting first hand information of filling tax. Senior Income Tax Official said government revenue is generated through the tax paid by people and the same revenue is spent for development of the country therefore it should be the duty of every citizen to pay income tax honestly. He sought cooperation of the Bar in respect of achieving target of at least 20% increase in income-tax revenue during the current fiscal. He further desired to revamp the charitable institutions and their monitoring after registration for exemptions so that the society at large benefits from this sector. President Income Tax Bar Association, Adv Sat Mehta pointed out difficulties faced due to non-acceptance of Digital Signatures of Legal Heirs for filing of returns on line. Speaking on the occasion Advocate V K Grover expressed concern over the shortcomings in the prevailing system of on-line filing of Income-tax returns and urged the IT officials to take up necessary modifications in departmental portal. Advocate Vikas Chopra expressed concern over non-resolution of TDS matters on the pretext of staff shortage. Need to mention here that On an invitation from the Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax, Amritsar K.S. Pathania Income-tax Bar Association led by its President Advocate Sat Mehta held an interactive session with him.
