Jammu, Nov 20: 19th National Children Science Congress-2011 organized by the Public Technocrats Society, Jammu who is also District Coordinator for National Children Science Congress at Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary School, Rehari Colony, Jammu with the objective that we advance scientific temper, emerge as a progressive and enlightened society, and make it possible for all our people to participate fully in the development of science and technology and its application for human welfare..
The programme was technically supported by NCSTC-Network, New Delhi and catalyzed & supported by Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodyogiki Saanchar Parishad (RVPSP), Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India, New Delhi.
The Primary objective of the Children Science Congress is to make a forum available to children of the age-group of 10-17 (i.e. 9 to 14 years age group represent in the junior group and 14 to 17 years represent senior group.), both from formal school system as well as from out of school, to exhibit their creativity and innovativeness and more particularly their ability to solve a societal problems experienced locally using the method of –science.
In the said programme child scientists from all the nooks and corners of Jammu were present and discussed their research work regarding the theme of the programme ‘Land Resources’.
They gave the tough competition and it was tough for judges to judge the Ist three positions in both the groups.
Moreover number of projects were contested and three each from Jr. &
Sr. Groups were selected for the top positions. Those who secured the top positions in the Sr. Group are 1. K.C. Public School, Akhnoor Road, Jammu 2 Heritage School, Jammu 3. Shiksha Niketan Hr. Sec. School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu 4. B.N. Public School, Jammu 5. Govt. Boys Hr. Sec.Gandhi Nagar, Jammu 6. Air Force School, Jammu. Those who topped in Jr. Groups are 1. Shiksha Niketan, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu 2.
Naveen Vidya Mandir, Paloura, Jammu 3. Jodhamal Public School, Chhanni Himmat, Jammu 4. Heritage School, Jammu.
All above stated school were selected for state level National Children Science Congress going to be held in the Ist Week of December 2011.
Certificates and Awards were given away by the Principal of the host School Rajni Bala. The vote of thanks was presented by the secretary of the society.
