Mughal Road - The Favourite Choice of Drug Dealers.
11/20/2011 9:49:14 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Nov 20:With the opening of Mughal road, the economic sector of the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch is expected to develop a lot and it is also said that this road can bring world of possibilities.
However, the negative consequences of this road seem to overcome the positive ones and now tension has gripped on the minds of Rajourians.
According to sources, the drug dealers are dumping the consignments from valley to Jammu region through Mughal road. These sources also state that drug peddlers are using the fruit and vegetable carrying vehicles for transport of these drugs. It is obvious that the drug substances that are costly in international market can be obtained easily from valley in few thousands per kilogram.
People of twin border Districts Rajouri and Poonch were expecting a lot of benefits from the 85 Km long Mughal road from Shopian to Bafliaz but now this road is becoming as the danger zone for the twin districts.
The developing network of drug dealing on Mughal road can be observed from Police records which state that in past couple of month's Police has arrested near about 30 drug dealers carrying drug consignments through Mughal road. It has also got clear that locals of Rajouri and Poonch are also using their hands in this anti-social work.
Police also seem to take the issue lightly as so far no check post has been installed on this 85 km long modified road which also provide the drug dealers a golden chance to carry on their anti-social activity.
Talking with our News Bureau, locals demanded the police authorities to install check posts on Mughal road. They also appealed the government and police authorities to organise public co-ordination meetings so that locals can bravely help the police in curbing this network.
