J&K suffers innings’ defeat against MP | CK Nayudu U-22 Cricket Plate Group semis | | JAMMU, Nov 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Under-22 team suffered a huge defeat by an innings and six runs in the all important semifinal match of Plate Group of the ongoing CK Nayudu Under-22 Cricket Championship at Indore, today. This 4-day match ended in just two days as almost all the batsmen of Jammu and Kashmir team failed to deliver in either of the innings. J&K were bundled out for a meagre total of 113 runs in the first innings with Manik Gupta (23), Shubam Khajuria (18), Gokul Baru (17) and Sahil Sharma (17) being the main scorers, while in the second innings J&K again collapsed at 154 runs while chasing a lead of 160 runs, thus lost the match by one innings and six runs. Earlier, MP resumed their innings at 192/5 and scored a total of 273 runs to gain a lead of 160 runs. Manoj Singh 71 and SD Chaudhary 47 were the main contributors From MP. For Jammu and Kashmir, Leg-Spinner Deepak Singh Manhas was the wrecker-in-chief, scalping 4 important wickets, while Off-Spinner Aamir Mehraj and Speedster Sahil Sharma claimed two wickets each. Owais Shah was the top scorer for J&K, scoring 26 runs, while Shubam Khajuria and Gokul Baru contributed 25 and 22 runs to the total respectively. The whole side bundled-out for paltry 154 runs, thus lost the match by an innings and six runs. It may be recalled that two batsmen from J&K namely Shubam Khajuria and Owais Shah hit two centuries each in this tournament this season, while Bandeep Singh and Aditya Pratap Singh slammed one century each and Manik Gupta emerged as the champion all-round in this tournament. |
