Losing job as chief spokesman: Kamal blames it on Omar | Fissures widen in Abdullah family | | Asif Iqbal Naik Jammu, Nov 21: Infighting within the Abdullah family in Jammu and Kashmir has started getting wider day by day as the senior National Conference leader and brother of Union Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah has accused Chief Minister Omar abdullah of forcing his father to sack him(Kamal) from the post of Chief Spokesperson National Conference. "It was Omar Abdullah who forced his brother and party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah to ask me to step down from the post of Chief Spokes person National Conference." Kamal said. He said that Omar Abdullah should not have issued the written statement to the press after he stepped down as NC spokes person. "I accepted the decision of my appointment as a spokes person and Additional General Secretary of the party and I also accepted the decision when I was asked for my resignation from the post of NC spokes persons, but he (Omar) should not have to issued written statement and put the blame on me that I was responsible for the controversy...", Kamal said angrily. He said that he had not violated the coalition "Dharma" and what ever he speaks is within the coalition "Dharma". " Omar is not sure about himself,...... he has no footing on ground and he (Omar) feels insecure for my popularity." Kamal said. He said that it was due his popularity, Omar feels insecure that Mustafa Kamal will gain popularity and people will switch their loyalties towards me. "This is false and I never intended to do that" ,Kamal maintained. He said that what ever he did or intended to do is for the party not for his personal gains. He said that Omar loves to gain the popularity on each and every issue, which he (Mustafa Kamal) never intended to do. He said that New Delhi each and every time wants to implement its own agenda, they do whatever they feel fit in Jammu and Kashmir. Kamal said that he served the party for more than 25 years and feels disheartened by the step taken by his brother Farooq Abdullah at the instance of Omar Abdullah. "I had a good relationship with my brother earlier, but now my heart will never meet with Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah in same manner as it was earlier." Mustafa Kamal lamented. He however did not comment on whether he would continue to remain with the party or not. It is worthwhile to mention that Mustafa Kamal targetted the army and accused it of creating trouble time and again in the state as and when peace is intended to return to the valley. He also said that it was army who was behind the series of grenade blast in Srinagar town in the month of October. Kamal strongly advocated removal of AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir, but moved ahead in targeting his coalition partner Congress .This became the cause for losing his job as NC Spokes Person as the coalition partner Congress put pressure on National Conference to act against Mustafa Kamal. |
