Chib inaugurates 7-day orientation programme for NYC volunteers

Jammu, November 22: Saying that youth are the strength of nation, Minister for Youth Services and Sports Mr. R S Chib today said that they play vital role in nation building, progress and development.
The Minister was speaking at the inaugural function of 7-day orientation programme for National Youth Corps volunteers organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Jammu today at Nagrota.
The Minister said this initiative is a part of the programme started by Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh in which 20,000 youth from the country would by imparted training in various fields, adding that the state got lion share of 8,000 youth from the state.
Mr Chib said that 8000 youth were selected from J&K for inculcating discipline and training out of which 300 were placed at the disposal of NYK and 7700 were deployed with various departments of the State government.
Referring to the beginning of NYC, Mr. Chib said it is an organization which was started by former Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi and expanded by former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi. He said Sangathan is working for producing good and capable citizens for which capacities are developed by the volunteers in orientation camps. He complimented the organizers for organizing such a camp and hoped that it would help in understanding the cultural diversity and foster national integration as well.
Referring to Sports Ministers conference recently held at New Delhi, the Minister said that union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has assured to look into their issues of enhancement of honorarium and adjustment.
The Volunteers presented scintillating cultural programme on the occasion which spell bound the audiences.
Among others, Director, Youth Services and Sports S. Jaipal Singh, Zonal Director, NYK, Sangathan Jammu Choudhary Atif, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports M. Madan Lal, District Youth Coordinator Mr. Nisar Ahmad Bhat, besides National Youth Corps volunteers across the province were present on the occasion.
