| BGSB University sans water facility in campus premises | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri Nov 22: The famous Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU)
in Rajouri district that has been claimed as ‘hub of knowledge’ with
best infrastructure by the authorities but tall claims of better
infrastructure come to ground as students lament ‘no water facility’
in this hub of knowledge.
This university nestled in a rural belt Dhanore about 4-5 kms away
from the main township of Rajouri district where thousands students
have enrolled in university in various educational/professional
courses including higher educational courses as PG, Ph.d MBA, MCA etc.
but all including the faculty members are facing acute problem of
potable water. Despite claiming to offer the best infrastructure of
latest version and quality BGSBU (Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University)
of Rajouri and aiming to touch new destinations with the passage of
time, the university sans the facility of water.
“There is no provision of water supply in university and right from
its start, the water requirement of university is being fulfilled
through private water tankers, locals said, adding that it should have
been initially taken in care by the authorities.
Worth to mention that a year back J&K CM and BGSBU Chancellor Omar
Abdullah assured to wipe away this problem and instructed the then
Vice-Chancellor of university to prepare a chart for funds requirement
to install self water supply in the institution. Sources in University
said that after elapse of over one year no steps have been taken in
this respect to mitigate the problem of the water facility ion campus.
According to officials BGSBU spent lakhs of rupees per month in the
transport of water through private tankers which is an extra burden on
the funds of the university within the routine complaints and at times
protests from the students of the university who allege university is
non serious to deal with the crisis forcing students fraternity to
face lot of problems.
