Jammu Nov 22: Basmati Growers of Jammu Province today demanded
Marketing intervention scheme with supporting price for promotion of
Basmati Rice in Jammu region different farmers organization today
expressed their concerns froma sigle platform.
Speaking in a joint press conference here today at Press Club Jammu,
Ch Dev Raj President RS Pura Rice Growers said that from last three
years Govt have given only hallow slogans at the name of Basmati
mission/Food Security Mission for Jammu, every years basmati is
produced from throw way prices and is sold at encouraging prices by
sellers.
He also appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdulla for their special
intervention for marketing of Basmati Rice and State Government should
fix Rs2800 minimum support price per quintal with 500/-bonus for
Basmati. Shiv Dev Singh President Rastriya Kissan Sang that it is a
matter great concern if the department has purchased Hybrid Rice Seed
seeds worth millions of rupees at the time of procurement where does
their quality stand there is no accountability on functions of
Agriculture department and why they are not stand with the farmers in
the name of Quality?
