CCI Jammu stages protest against ‘FDI in retail sector’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 22: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu today staged protest against sanction to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to enter into retail business by Union Government of India. CCI members assembled outside the Press Club of Jammu and staged protest against the introduction of FDI in retail sector. The Protestors raising slogans in favour of their demands said, opening of such retail outlets will no doubts may give some rate relief to consumers but it will effect directly and indirectly to society in general and millions of traders all over the country in particular. Protestors led by Y V Sharma President of CCI Jammu underlined that the above said initiative will leave over thousands of traders in various trades along with their employees will render jobless in one or another two years in Jammu. “This will have great problem for all the states and union territories to deal with millions of people rendered in jobless and resulting into acute problem of unemployment in the county adding woes in the society, they added. CCI President and other speakers also underlined that it will not out of place to mention that producer will not be beneficial at large as part of product will be sold whereas the rest will go waste causing ultimate loss to producer. The protestors also have urged the Union Government and State Government to please not to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail.
