Govt turns deaf ear to 6 yrs old stir of Home Guards for higher wages
Almost six years stir yet fruitless

Jammu Nov 22: "Protest Dharna of J&K Home Guards Welfare Association
under the Presidentship of Kamla Sharma has crossed five years in
front of Divisional Commissioners Old Office demanding absorption of
all the Home Guards into the regular police or to enhance salary at
par with them entered into sixth year on the other day.
The association had launched its dharna on November 15, 2006. For the
past five years, Home Guards have been holding a dharna at the Mubarak
Mandi complex here. To loud their voice to reach state government and
to wake it up from its deep slumber, a massive "protest Dharna" was
staged today, outside the Press Club of Jammu.
Not only the Home Guards but different leaders of political parties &
NGOs also supported the home guards and asked the state government to
accept their demands. Speaking on the occasion State General Secretary
of the J&K People's Democratic Front (S) Bhushan Lal Gupta, said that
it was a mockery with the humanity that the home guards (State
Employees) were forced to live with a meager salary of Rs.545/-.
He asked Hon'ble Chief Minister and Legislatures to introspect how
they enhanced their salary to many folds in one go (whereas they were
not the Govt employees) which they were not entitled to, and Home
Guards who was selected through strict government procedures, tough
competitions and gone through hard trainings, posted at different
places and get Rs. 545/- which he consumes in the Mini bus fair while
performing duty at different places.
“It is a sheer discrimination, he added. Pavitter Singh, Sessions
Judge Retd said that it was a matter of anguish & shame and a "Black
Spot" on the face of the Central as well State government, that since
last 5 years of their "Protest Dharna" of the Home Guards nobody in
Govt. have come forward to listen to their grievance.
He asked Omar Abdullah to do at least one good job and absorb all the
Home Guards into the regular police force.
Sunita Sharma President RWF, Ved Gandotra President FFA, Pritam Sharma
General Secretary Kranti Daf and Karnail Chand also asked the Chief
Minister to concede to demands of the Home Guards.
The prominent who participate in the rally were Vinod Pandit APMCC/
APHCC, Sat Paul Saini General Secretary EPTWS, Sr. General Secretary
Suresh Sharma, Secretary Rakesh, Mohinder Singh, Krishan Lal, Tarsem
Lal Monna, Darshana, Babli, Santosh, Shakuntla Devi, Bimla Devi,
Sakeena, Anil, Pawan, Vijay.
