Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 22 : With Mustafa Kamal's outburst against Chief Minister, the Sheikh Family seems to have gone to war. Kamal accused Omar of being instrumental in getting him removed from party posts. However, Omar made clear that he had no personal grudge against his father's brother (Uncle). "It was Party President's decision. I have nothing to do with it", Omar said.
Earlier Kamal in an exclusive interview with a news agency Kamal said, "Omar Abdullah was scared of my growing popularity." He claimed that few other NC leaders were also behind his removal.
Kamal accused Omar of making compromises on various issues to stay in power. "But Omar should remember that power isn't permanent and he has to come back to the party again," he said.
Kamal claimed that his removal had demoralized party workers. "I wasn't working for myself but for the party as I'm already popular among masses. I never spoke against coalition dharma but spoke the truth," he added.
In a direct attack against his nephew and Chief Minister, Kamal said,"Omar should run the government but not at the cost of party interests. Power isn't identity of a politician but the party is. One who is in power can't run the party. Power comes when you remain with party."
Kamal said some Congress members were working against the coalition to show Omar the exit. The senior NC leader revealed that a few years back government had taken final decision to induct him in the cabinet. "But at the last moment some people within the NC hatched a conspiracy to thwart the move," he said.
"Yes I have a grudge. Why was I not made a minister", he admitted. On contacting his sister, Khalida Shahhe said, "Khalida Shah is my elder sister and we have a strong relation. However, I've no political relation with ANC."
The senior NC leader reiterated his statement regarding AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, which became reason for his ouster. "I repeat that Rahul Ji has no role in running Jammu and Kashmir government.
Running the state government is Chief Minister's prerogative," he added. Dr Kamal alleged that opposition PDP was trying to spread disorder in the state. "PDP is paying money to stone pelters and trying to destabilize peace in the Kashmir," he alleged.
