| CS for fast tracking infrastructure development in schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 23:Chief Secretary Madhv Lal has directed education and PHE departments to take immediate steps to make provision for potable water facilities at all the uncovered schools of the state.
”Either explore the possibility of permanent supply line or make alternate arrangement for providing potable water to children in all the uncovered schools at the earliest" he said asking the concerned to furnish a comprehensive list of all covered and uncovered schools within a week to his office .
Chairing the meeting with Secretaries here today, the Chief Secretary asserted that all the schools have to be provided basic facilities and concerned departments should redouble efforts in order to complete the process as early as possible to ensure compliance of Apex Court directions in toto.
Madhav Lal also took stock of the timber availability at the schools being constructed under Sarva Shiksha Abhyan and other schemes and stressed for close coordination between the Forest and Education departments to achieve tangible progress in the implementation of the scheme. He said alternative arrangements could also be explored so that buildings get ready for the academic activities without further delay.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Agriculture MI Khanday, Principal Secretary Home B R Sharma, Principal Secretary PWD K B Aggarwal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B B Vyas, Principal Secretary Housing Suresh Kumar and various administrative Secretaries.
