DB disposed of PIL seeking development of Urdu e with directions

Jammu, Nov 23: Responding to PIL filed by Sheikh Abd-ur-Reham EX-MP and State President Samajwadi Party regarding implementation of report of house committee for Urdu, Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu Wing disposed off PIL further directing the respondents to consider implementation in monthly meet and ensure proper implementation of the report of the house committee’s recommendations.
Double Bench comprising Chief Justice FM Ibrahim Kalifulla and Justice Virender Singh disposed off Public Interest Litigation observed that perusal of the compliance report disclosed that after the order dated December 21, 2006 an implementation committee was constituted vide Govt order dated January 18, 2007 consisting of Secretary Education Dept, Additional Secretary to Govt GAD and Additional Secretary to Housing & Urban Development Dept and a time limited was also prescribed for the implementation committee to file its report. The said committee did not filed its report within speculated time and extension of time was also applied. Unfortunately in the meantime some of the officers constituted in the said committee retired and thereafter by Govt order dated March 7, 2011 a new committee consisting of Commissioner/Secretary School Education Dept, Special Secretary Govt Home Dept, Additional Secretary to Industries & Commerce Dept was constituted by the State Govt for the implementation of recommendation of the J&K Legislative Assembly House Committee Development and Popularization of Urdu Language in the J&K State.
Division Bench after hearing Adv SH Shah Ashrafi for the PIL whereas Deputy AG Vinod Bakshi appearing for the State further observed that in the light of said development Court only direct the said committee to periodically submit its report to the state Govt as to manner in which the implementation of recommendations of J&K Legislative Assembly House Committee will be made. With these observations & directions Division Bench disposed off the PIL.
