Devote yourself for service of people, Khoda to cops

JAMMU, Nov 23:Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda today said that training has assumed more importance in the present scenario and the cops have to remain vigilant to face any challenge posed by the criminals.
Khoda was addressing 777 recruit constables at Sardar Pritinandan Singh Police Training School Kathua here today. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been sharpening the training skills of its personnel to meet the requirements of present challenges. He said that training in latest techniques like computer education, crime detection, use of non-lethal weapons has been assuming much importance in the present scenario and Jammu and Kashmir Police has upgraded its training institutions across the state to get its men trained in the fields of modern policing.
Referring to the sacrifices offered by JKP in bringing peace in the state, the DGP said that the supreme sacrifices of the force have yielded fruits and the people of the state are now feeling themselves in a secure atmosphere.
He also asked the cops that while dealing with the situations they have to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in letter and spirit and respect the human rights.
On the occasion, the Principal of the institution Ashok Sharma, while giving brief resume of the institution said that till now 22000 constables have been trained in the institution and the 23rd batch of 777 recruits, which include 74 post graduates and more than 200 graduates have been given training in various fields of policing including use of non-lethal weapons and computer education.
Khoda during the visit inspected under construction works in DPL Kathua and IRP 19thBn Battalion Headquarters at Chandigarh. ADG (Headquarters), DR Doley, IGP, Dilbag Singh and DIG, Farooq Khan, accompanying the DGP, apprised that two multi storey barracks and a dinning hall with required facilities is under construction in District Police Lines which would be completed and commissioned soon. Earlier, on his way to Kathua, Khoda paid a surprise visit to Police Stations Hiranagar and Raj Bagh. He inspected the records of the Police Stations and enquired about the status of investigation of various cases. He stressed upon the investigating staff to redress the grievances of the people within the shortest time. He also discussed the accommodation available with the police Stations and issued necessary instructions for improvement.
