Record criminal challans produced in Sept-Oct | J&K follows 'No 1 New Delhi' in vehicle thefts | | Sumit Sharma Jammu, Nov 23: Believe it or not the Jammu and Kashmir once again is at second place as it follows the National Capital New Delhi in the vehicles thefts, police sources said adding that of 450 stolen vehicles 151 were traceable and 68 were stolen from New Delhi while 43 from Jammu and Kashmir. High placed sources said revealing the data which is presently in possession of Early Times gives astonishing figures to make one surprise. The details elaborated in the statistical data maintained by the police stated of the traceable vehicles seized under section 550 CrPC in district Jammu it is found that 68 stolen vehicles are of Delhi of the total 151 vehicles, 43 vehicles belong to Jammu district, 3 vehicles are from Rajasthan, 12 each is of Utter Pradesh and Haryana, 2 each stolen from Punjab and Haryana while rest are of other states. Sources said that there were about 450 unclaimed vehicles seized in different police stations of district Jammu and among them around 151 have been identified adding that these vehicles were identified after hectic investigation. Sources said that though, identification of the rest of the vehicles are in progress, Jammu and Kashmir police has written to the Director Generals of the concerned states police to take the vehicles after legal formalities. Sources further disclosed that Jammu police set record in connection with challans produced within two previous months of September and October. They said that around 409 challans were produced in the month of September and 413 challans were produced in the month of October while as 2000 vehicles were challaned in the month of October only and a fine of about 3 lakhs were realized by the court. |
