| Inter-department competitions of BGSBU | | Pratibha Sharma wins chess title | |  early times report
RAJOURI, Nov 24: Pratibha Sharma of Applied Maths and Mohammad Sohail of MBA clinched the winners’ trophy in chess in the ongoing inter-department competitions of Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education on the campus, here today.
Earlier, in the final, played this morning, Pratibha defeated Shivya Manhas of Bachelor of Technology in a close contest. Similarly, in men’s section, Mohd Sohail trounced Yasin of MCA in the title clash.
Carrom: Shivani, Junaid sparkle
In carom, Shivani Sharma of MBA outplayed Tanvi Kounser of the same department to claim the winners’ trophy. The men’s title went to Junaid Ashraf of Bechlor of Technology (Civil) after he defeated Shivam Gandotra of Bachelor of Technology (Civil).
In all, about 55 men and 36 women from Post Graduate and Under Graduate departments of the University participated in these two events under the guidance of Vishal Sharma, R C Bhatt and Muzaffar Iqbal.
Arshid excels in 6-km race
Arshid Ahmad of Bachelor of Technology (CE) clinched the men’s six-kilometer road race. Second place went to Waseem Bhatti of ECE-2010 while Mohd Yaseen Malik of Bachelor of Technology remained third.
