Hockey Association conducts selection trials | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: The new organisational identity of the national game of hockey in the state—Hockey J&K has formally started its activities under the aegis of Hockey India by holding selection trails in sub-junior age categories of boys and girls at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today. The day-long selection process attracted a huge crowd of over 100 boys and girls thereby making it tough for the penal of selectors to finalise the team for the forthcoming national championship. “The selected boys and girls teams shall take part in the Ist Sub-junior National Championships, organised under the banner of Hockey India by Hockey Himachal Pradesh at Una from November 26 to November 30,” informed vice-president of Hockey J&K, Rumal Singh. To take part in selection trials, boys from Poonch, Udhampur, Kathua and Kashmir Valley turned up to showcase their talent. The penal of selectors who supervised the trials under the chairmanship of Rumal Singh were Indpal Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Veena and Jagjit Kour. Meanwhile, the selection committee has already picked up probable for the junior boys and girls categories. While the junior boys’ team shall take part in nationals to be held at Sonipat in Haryana from December Ist to December 11, the girls team shall leave for Pune in Maharashtra on December seven.
